Organisational questions

How do I apply to Sulzer?

When applying, please only use the short online form that you can find on our Careers portal under every job vacancy. Please submit your CV and your training/degree certificates and employment references to enable us to check the possibility of you joining us. A short motivational letter telling us what you are looking for and what your expectations are of us as an employer would also be very helpful. Please note that we can only accept file attachments in PDF format. We would also be grateful if you could indicate your possible start date and salary expectations in your application form – this provides us with a rough guide but will naturally be negotiated during the interview process, taking into account your professional experience and technical qualifications.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with the HR contact mentioned in the job vacancy should you have any questions about the job description or application process.

What should I do if I am interested in several vacancies?

As the job requirements are sometimes very similar in different areas of the business, we would be pleased to accept an application for several vacancies and will then discuss with you the position that would be most suitable for you during the interview process. Please provide us with your application documents using the respective application form. You will receive a separate confirmation of receipt for each application.

How does the application process proceed at Sulzer?

In the first stage we will check the completeness of your documents and the general suitability of your profile for our specific needs. You will receive a confirmation of receipt e-mail from us within 2 working days. We then invite suitable applicants for an initial phone interview or an interview in person with the relevant department. With regard to vacancies for which we receive a large volume of applicants, a short phone call with your HR contact may possibly take place prior to the interview with the relevant department. In the second stage we then invite you to an interview at the relevant branch office at which representatives from the areas of the business and also the HR department will attend. We generally try to keep our two-stage application process as streamlined as possible so that applicants can expect to hear back after each stage within a couple of days.

How can I best prepare for the interview?

It is very important to us that the interview is conducted on an equal footing. Our interviews are intended, first and foremost, to enable all parties to get to know each other and clarify any crucial questions you have to put to us to find out whether we are a good fit for each other. To prepare for the interview, you should therefore find out the projects and areas in which we work to consider how your existing professional and academic experience is relevant for the position you are considering and what else you can find out about us. For a long-term and successful cooperation it is therefore important for us above all to know your expectations of us and what you attach importance to for a positive cooperation.

How can I withdraw my application if I have changed my mind?

Naturally you can withdraw your application at any time. However, please advise your contact in the HR department either by phone or e-mail. The contact details are listed in the relevant job vacancy.

What happens to my data after my application?

You data is collected and processed purely for the purposes of your application. To this end, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and §32 in conjunction with §35 of the German Data Protection Act.

What should I do if I receive an error message?

Please advise us by e-mail at  jobs(at)sulzer.de if you receive an error message. We would be happy to work with you to find a solution. Please note when submitting documents with your application that attachments cannot exceed 5 MB.

I have not received confirmation of receipt – why is that?

Our confirmations of receipt are not sent automatically so that we have the option of giving you immediate feedback about whether your documents are complete, or if we require further information or documents from you. It can therefore take up to 2 working days before you receive confirmation of receipt from us. Please check the spam filter in your e-mail account should you find yourself waiting longer than this for feedback from us.
