Our commitment to a sustainable future

SDG 5 aims to achieve gender equality. This goal includes ending discrimination and violence, ensuring gender equality in leadership positions, access to education and healthcare and promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. Through our gender guideline, we seek to further expand gender equality and also demand this from our partners.

SDG 7 aims to ensure global access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. It focuses on increasing the share of renewable energy in the global energy matrix, improving energy efficiency and expanding clean energy infrastructure and technology. We consistently use electricity from renewable sources for all electricity contracts in which we are a contractual partner. In doing so, we rely on Planet Energy eG a strong partner that sources its electricity from wind power, solar energy, hydropower and biomass.

SDG 12 deals with sustainable consumption and production patterns. It calls for a more efficient use of resources, a reduction in waste through recycling and reuse and the promotion of sustainable practices. The aim is to create a greener economy that uses fewer resources and causes less environmental pollution. The extraction of raw materials for IT devices and their production are currently associated with significant social and environmental impacts. Our corporate IT equipment is purchased rather than leased to maximize its useful life. Discarded products are given to the refurbished company AfB handed over. Defective hardware is handed over to a professional recycler.

SDG 13 focuses on measures to combat climate change and its impacts. It emphasizes the urgency of limiting global warming, increasing resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and promoting the integration of climate action into national policies and strategies. Sulzer GmbH sees digitalization as an opportunity in the fight against climate change, provided the right steps are taken. We are therefore addressing the topics of green IT and green coding and ensuring transparency and measurability in the IT landscape. The company’s own CO2 footprint is also determined and reduced with various measures. Rail travel for business trips, electrification of the vehicle fleet and charging stations at the locations and sustainable purchasing for the branches are examples of these measures.
