Success Story: Sulzer develops a hybrid strategy with SAP Analytics Cloud

To be able to offer the best possible IT expertise, we make sure that we are always one step ahead. As an SAP Silver Partner, we analyze whether and which SAP technologies are currently used by our customers and how they can be further optimized by using the latest technologies. This is how we saw the need to drive forward a hybrid strategy of SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud early on. With the goal of being able to serve customer needs even better.

The data landscape of our customers often consists of on-premise data solutions such as SAP BusinessObjects (BO) and SAP Business Warehouse (BW). These work well for our customers, but they are also associated with large financial investments and a lack of flexibility. Therefore, our customers are increasingly interested in switching to cloud solutions. At the same time, however, they continue to attach importance to the security of on-premise solutions – and that the data is securely protected from unauthorized access behind preconfigured firewalls. To best meet all these requirements, it was necessary to bundle the advantages of the respective solutions in an innovative hybrid strategy.

To build a data landscape that works for our customers, we started a hybrid approach with SAP’s Early Adopter Care (EAC) program. As a member of the EAC program, we had access to a team of SAP experts to ensure success. It was clear that a live data connection was essential for our customers – and that’s where SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect (LDC) came in. Working with the EAC program team, we upgraded from LDC 2.3 to LDC 3.0, implementing a true hybrid solution with a live data connection between the on-premise data in SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud. Now that we have successfully implemented the solution, we can successfully support our customer in expanding to the cloud.
